Movement is more than exercise, it’s a practice of vitality, recovery, and connection. At O2, we’re always exploring ways to enhance that experience, and infrared heat has emerged as a cornerstone of mindful, restorative movement. Across our studios, from Dallas to Aspen, infrared transforms heat into something intelligent and alive, gently warming you from within.
What Is Infrared Heat?
Infrared heat isn’t just a different way to warm a room, it’s a different way to warm the body. Unlike traditional heating systems that blow hot air into a space, infrared uses safe, invisible wavelengths of light to gently heat the body directly. It’s the same radiant warmth you feel from the sun on your skin on a bluebird morning, but without UV exposure.
Because infrared heat works at a cellular level, it helps increase circulation, boost oxygen flow, and support natural detoxification. The result is a steady, nourishing warmth that feels deeply grounding, energizing, and restorative.
Infrared vs. Forced Air: What’s the Difference?
Most heated yoga studios rely on forced air, which warms the room by circulating hot air through vents. While effective, it often creates an uneven, heavy atmosphere.
Infrared heat, by contrast, transforms warmth into something both intelligent and alive, gently warming you from within. It radiates energy that your body naturally absorbs: a quiet, sunlit warmth that works with you. The temperature builds gradually and evenly, coaxing muscles and joints open while keeping the air crisp and still. The result is a space that feels grounded yet vibrant, where every breath comes more easily and movement flows with greater intention and connection.
Where you’ll Feel (and See) the Difference
-
Deeper, more even warmth: Infrared wavelengths penetrate soft tissue, helping muscles and joints reach optimal temperature faster, which can improve flexibility and reduce strain during movement.
-
Enhanced circulation and oxygen flow: The gentle increase in core temperature encourages vasodilation– the dilatation of blood vessels, which decreases blood pressure– supporting blood flow, nutrient delivery, and post-exercise recovery.
-
Sustainable detoxification: Sweating happens at lower temperatures, allowing the body to release impurities without dehydration or fatigue.
-
Ease inflammation and tension: Steady radiant heat can calm stiffness and support the parasympathetic nervous system, helping muscles recover more comfortably.
-
Clean air, clear mind: With no vents or blowers, the studio air stays pure and balanced, creating a calm environment for breath and focus.
Aspen, a New Standard of Warmth
This winter, O2 Aspen introduces a new kind of warmth designed specifically for mountain living, becoming the first infrared-heated yoga studio in the valley and marking a milestone for Aspen students. While infrared has already transformed the experience at O2 Dallas, its arrival in Aspen will offer a uniquely restorative practice: at altitude, where the air is thinner and drier, infrared gently warms from within, supporting circulation, easing recovery, and helping muscles move more freely — creating an energizing, deeply grounding experience for every practice.
Launching at O2 Aspen this winter.
